About
Practical health information you can trust
Our mission
Good health information is often either too brief to be useful or buried in jargon. We write comprehensive, practical guides that bring together the best available evidence and turn it into steps you can actually use in everyday life.
Our guides are self-help resources. They are not medical advice, and they do not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. They're designed to help you understand your health and have better-informed conversations with your doctor — never to replace them.
Our editorial standards
Sources
- We prioritize public health guidance from the WHO, CDC, NIH, USDA, NHS and NICE, plus reputable sources such as Mayo Clinic and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
- We support this with peer-reviewed research, favoring systematic reviews and well-designed trials.
- We link to key sources so readers can check them, and we don't invent or inflate statistics.
Review process
- Every guide and article is researched, written and then checked against its sources before publication.
- We avoid claims that a book or method can cure, treat or reverse any condition, and we never promise specific results.
- We clearly signpost when readers should speak to their doctor, your local urgent-care line or emergency services.
Updates
- Each article shows a "last reviewed" date.
- We review content when major guidance changes, and at least once a year.
What we don't do
- We don't publish testimonials, star ratings or invented success stories.
- We don't use countdown timers or false urgency.
- We don't accept payment to recommend products.
